Reinhard Heydrich Wikipedia - Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated in Prague Wikipedia - Prague in 1942 in Operation Anthropoid Wikipedia - Operation Anthropoid. The Czech population's relationship with the Nazi administration was too comfortable for the Allies and Czech partisan operations were nearly non-existent, contributing nothing to the Allied war effort. In order to increase tension between the population the English SOE hatched a plan to assassinate Heydrich which would cause the Nazis to inflict sweeping reprisals upon the Czech populace. The plan to assassinate Heydrich was bitterly opposed by both the Czech partisan factions within Czechia for this reason.

1940-1945 This building housed the Czechoslovak government-in-exile military intelligence service. Operation Anthropoid was planned here in October 1942, which led to the assassination of the Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich in Prague on 27 May 1942.
