The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) : The Henchmen give chase on skis
Kanton Graubundem, Switzerland: Evil Henchmen observe James Bond skiing away from this assignation in an Alpine chalet and prepare to give chase.

Assassinating a skier in these conditions is not an easy task. He is moving quickly, which will make it difficult to engage him with a rifle from the flank because of the lead-calculation. Engaging from directly behind or directly in front, he will be jinking left, right, up, down, even during normal skiing. You could ambush him at close range if you know his route and could find a bottle-neck. On a glacier such as this, his route could be one of many. This leaves either option (A), giving chase, as these henchmen do, or (B) using a belt-fed Squad automatic machine-gun such as an MAG58 or an MG-42. You can walk the shots onto the target by observing the snow whipped-up by each previous shot. I would use a combination of (A) and (B), choosing the MG-42, with its higher rate of fire. The MG-42 I would have de-greased and then re-lubed with Teflon dry-lube, for operation in sub-zero temperatures. Ahhhh... there is nothing like it. As the 250-round of 7.92mm steel-case ammo runs out and the ripping-silk muzzle report halts while the tinkle of ejected brass continues for a few more seconds, the delicious smell of the Cordite hangs in the air. You pull out the barrel from the gun, hold the glowing chamber-end up to light your cigar, and inhale a lung-full of the deep, rich smoke, as you bask in the satisfaction of having assassinated the world's least secret, secret-agent.

Evil henchmen wearing Bognor ski-suits. Not the 'B' on the zipper tag. Skiing henchmen in particular have to wear matching ski-suits and headgear because it helps continuity greatly when you have several teams of stuntmen which you can send down the same section of mountain and make repeated takes.

The Spy of Loved Me (1977)
Skis by Le Coq Sportif, a French manufacturer. Rather an unusual choice for James Bond. Willy Bognor Junior skied on Völkls. I wonder if the skiing stunt team were French or Swiss-French. Perhaps they need a pair of skis to attatch to a camera frame, and these pair were handy and expendable.

The large ring on Roger Moore's left shoulder is the ring you pull to deploy his reserve parachute. The cut-away for the main parachute should be on his right shoulder somewhere.
